Indian fall is not one climate. Mumbai can remain warm and humid while Delhi, Jaipur and northern cities move quickly toward cold evenings. The answer is modular layering: outfits that gain or lose warmth without losing their shape.
The Mumbai formula
Start with a breathable heavyweight cotton tee and carry an open overshirt or zip hoodie for late evenings. Choose loose trousers for airflow and avoid stacking multiple fleece layers.
The Delhi formula
Use a tee as the base, add a 350–390 GSM hoodie, then introduce a jacket when temperatures drop. Keep the outer layer slightly wider than the hoodie so the shoulders and sleeves do not bunch.
Make layers work visually
- Let the tee hem show slightly below an open layer.
- Combine one texture—fleece, denim or nylon—with simpler cotton.
- Keep one hero graphic visible rather than hiding every print.
A modern outfit should adjust through the day. Zip layers, structured tees and easy neutral colours make that possible across India’s changing conditions.
