Relaxed double denim returns in Fall 2026 through the continuing Y2K and ’90s revival. The update is less polished and more proportional: wider jeans, cropped or oversized jackets and a graphic tee that breaks up the blue.
Do not chase an exact wash match
A washed light jacket with deeper blue jeans creates separation. Black denim over blue also works well. When both pieces are identical, use a white, cream or bold-colour T-shirt between them.
Control the volume
If the jeans are extremely wide, choose a jacket that ends around the hip. If the jacket is long and oversized, keep the denim relaxed but straighter. One piece can exaggerate; the other should support.
Use graphics as the bridge
A football, anime or motorsport tee introduces colour and personality between the two denim layers. Repeat one print colour in the sneakers or cap to tie the outfit together.
The aim is not to recreate a vintage uniform. It is to borrow the confidence and volume of the era while using cleaner construction and modern fabric weight.
